I was very pleased today to receive my first copy of The Penny Dreadful, (Issue Three), a relatively new Irish literary magazine. It’s full of black and twisted humour, which I like. And it doesn’t take itself seriously.
It’s a fine magazine, beautifully printed and bound. It’s credit to all who made it: Editors John Keating and Marc O’Connell and the team at the Dreadful Press.
I’ve only scratched the surface of its contents so far. There’s a radio play by Kevin Barry no less and the great P.J O’Connor offers some fiction. There’s also poetry by Dimitria Xidous among others. And art by Snooks Lee. I look forward to reading it over the next few weeks.
The year’s subscription was very reasonable at €13 for a year, (two issues).
They also accept submissions of poetry and fiction.
